after i wrote that last post, i decided to anywho his widow, patricia.  she lives in virginia just outside washington dc.   i called her on the telephone not really knowing what i would say, but we ended up talking for over a half an hour.  i think i love her a little.  she's expecting the bracelet in the mail sometime this next week...she said i should expect photographs and letters and stories and recipes in return.  she really is a beauty.

So it's done.

I've been wearing my stainless steel bracelet around my wrist for over five years now.    It has inscribed on it the name of Col Charles J. Scharf, an Air Force pilot that went missing in North Vietnam in October of '65.  Now we know what happened to him.  Now I can return it to his family....even if a little late
